Day 51

Day 51: 7/7/15 (Oklahoma City)
32 miles

We were pretty slow moving this morning just trying to plan a few things for the rest of our trip.  Around lunch time we headed out to Bricktown, the downtown area of Oklahoma City, to meet Kris for lunch.  He decided we had to try some BBQ while we were in town so we ate at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grille (what a name!).  Rico tried some BBQ ribs and chicken and Jillian just stuck with a classic pulled pork.  We also all split some “tumbleweed” aka a skinnier version of a blooming onion.  We took up all of Kris’s lunch hour and he ended up having to rush back for a 1pm interview for a new applicant.  We were planning to walk around downtown, but it started raining and we really weren’t thrilled about getting wet.

Instead we just headed back to the apartment and committed our day to some serious apartment searching back in NH.  We felt like we were getting a little too picky so we just started bookmarking all the ones that seemed good enough.  We mass contacted a bunch of the apartments and had a bit of success with quick responses.  We set up two viewings for the following week, one in Nashua and one in Merrimack.  Jillian’s sister Chelsea had already agreed to help us out and go see some apartments so we tried to compile all the information we wanted to know about each apartment.  We felt like we had accomplished a good amount so Jillian rewarded herself with another dramatic episode of The Bachelorette.  By this point, Kris was home and Rico was showing him our blog posts and videos – it’s easier than trying to explain everything.

We were thinking about heading to a bar or back downtown, but we decided to just pick up some beers and bring them home instead.  Jillian also grabbed some yogurts because she can’t resist picking some up every time we have access to a fridge.  For dinner we had some leftover pasta meals from when we went out to dinner for Susan’s birthday and boy were they delicious!  We spent the rest of the night watching a couple of movies.  We started with Chappie which is kind of like the modern day iRobot, though more South African and gangster.  Afterwards we watched Pitch Perfect 2 which was good, but not as good as the original.  By that point, we were all tired and ready for bed.

Fact:
Oklahoma has stupid tolls that cost $1.15 and only take exact coins, therefore they have a change machine which makes paying a toll a very long process

Lesson:
If you want good beer, don’t go to Oklahoma – they have some stupid law where they won’t sell beer over 4%
