Day 14: 5/31/15 (Missoula)
15 miles
We woke up around 8am
to the smell of a breakfast smorgasbord being made. We had huckleberry pancakes
with bacon, sausage, and mixed berries – sooo good. The kids were as lively as
ever running inside and outside back and forth to the basketball court. After a
few FIFA matches between Rico and Isaac, we all went folfing (disc
golfing). Jillian was happy to be playing
with the kids since she is the farthest thing from a pro when it comes to
folfing and usually eats everyone’s dust.
The kids really don’t hold back though so she was still struggling to
keep up. With all the surrounding
mountains in Montana, the course wasn’t lacking any natural obstacles. On the very last hole, Rico’s disc went over
the edge, rolled down the hill, and fell into the creek. The kids helped to spot where the disc was
and then Rico used the GoPro stick to successfully fish it out.
Once we were all back
at the house, we planned some meals for the rest of the week so we could go
grocery shopping to pick up all the ingredients. We decided to cook two meals during our stay:
an Italian night with bruschetta and carbonara and a BBQ night. For dinner we walked over to The Ranch Club
to grab a bite. The waitress was a
little slow/nonexistent, but eventually we were all fed. We were happy to be out somewhere where we
could try more local beers.
Fact:
If you’re a new
waitress, you should tell your guests because otherwise we think you suck
Lesson:
Don’t try too hard at
folfing, unless you’re prepared to spend your day searching for your disc
