Day 4

Day 4: 5/21/15 (Mason, OH)
0 miles

We finally got to sleep in! And boy did we take advantage of it.  After rolling out of bed and eating breakfast, we spent most of our day researching things to do in the next few cities we’d be stopping in (Indianapolis, Chicago, and Milwaukee).  It seems that Indy isn’t extremely exciting so we’re just going to pass through to hit the Hard Rock Café.  We’re hoping to find some good pizza in Chicago and some good cheese in Milwaukee.  The weather doesn’t look too bad for the next few days.

We’re hoping to leave this gloomy, chilly weather behind!
We earned our keep by helping out with dinner, which was delicious!  We peeled and cut potatoes and Rico took over mashing them.  After dinner, Collin went after the fly in the house.  He trapped it, caught it, then heckled Tara and Jillian with it before finally putting it in a plastic bag.  We’re not exactly sure what his intentions were, but in the end, he decided to head-butt it (see video below – warning, it’s slightly gross).

After dinner we headed to Graeter’s Ice Cream.  There was somewhat of a debate as to which ice cream shop we’d go to – must be nice to have so many yummy options!  Rico ended up with caramel and dark chocolate gelato on a pretzel cone and Jillian got chocolate chocolate chip and coconut chocolate chip.  YUM!  We spent some time chatting when we got home before passing out for the night.

We’ll definitely miss having other people around to talk to.  Thanks Aldrich Family!

Fact:
Ohio has a lot of good ice cream shops

Lesson:
If you have a fly in your house, recruit Collin Aldrich to capture and kill it

  1. Jillian, It was great seeing you and meeting Rico. Glad you made us part of your adventure. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

P.S. The fly's funeral is tomorrow. We will give him a proper burial in the local cornfield.
